Plastic molded tubs are commonly used for various purposes, including storage, organization, and packaging. These tubs are manufactured through a process called injection molding, which involves injecting molten plastic into a mold cavity to create the desired shape. Here's an overview of plastic molded tubs:

  1. Design: The design phase begins with conceptualizing the shape, size, and features of the plastic tub. Engineers use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create precise 3D models of the tub, taking into account factors such as functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.

  2. Material Selection: The choice of plastic material depends on the intended application of the tub, as well as factors such as durability, flexibility, and cost. Common plastics used for molded tubs include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene (PS).

  3. Tooling: Once the design is finalized, the mold design is created based on the 3D model. The mold typically consists of two halves, the cavity, and the core, which are precision-machined from steel or aluminum using CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines.

  4. Injection Molding: The mold halves are mounted onto an injection molding machine. Plastic pellets are heated to a molten state and injected into the mold cavity under high pressure. The plastic fills the cavity and takes the shape of the tub.

  5. Cooling and Solidification: After injection, the mold is cooled to allow the plastic to solidify. Cooling can be accelerated using water channels within the mold. Once solidified, the mold is opened, and the plastic tub is ejected.
